Lots Happening at the Center these days!

With warmer weather ahead, and this week of rain behind us, we're gearing up for a very busy summer!



JUNE: 

Tuesday, June 11th – An Armchair Traveler Adventure! 1:00. Join 7th Grader Jens Verderber and his mom, Dr. Linda Ulrich who will entertain you with spectacular photos and stories of their recent trip to Mexico. They’ll take you hiking & camping,  you’ll swim with seals and see mother grey whales and their babies!

Sunday, June 16th - Father's Day Brunch 10:00-1:00. Bring your dad down to the Center for Pancakes & Bacon, Quiche, salad, fruit, homemade baked goods and real good coffee. Proceeds benefit the Fairfield Food Shelf. Come enjoy a relaxing, Sunday brunch with family, friends, and neighbors.

Monday, June 24th - Black Creek Adventure Camp begins with Summertime Kickoff! 8 weeks of great programs, hands-on learning, arts and crafts, gardening, cooking, outdoor sports and games, and long-lasting friendships. 7:30-4:30 daily, just $20/day. Tuesday, June 25th – CVAA Outreach Presentation: 3SquaresVT, Fuel Assistance, Food Commodities, Green Mountain Power Savings Plan ~ What's it all about and do you qualify?  Get the facts and your questions answered by CVAA's Food Stamp Outreach Specialist Rhonda Somers-Fletcher.

Thursday, June 27th - OPEN HOUSE at The Meeting House on the Green, 5-8 p.m.  Music by The Missisquoi River Band, food, history, discussion and next steps. Stop by and see what's going on! 



JULY:

All weeks in July: Black Creek Adventure Camp continues with Little Lost Arts, The Kids' Park, The Fairfield Time Machine, Celebrating Local Farms & Local Foods, and Living on Earth, Shelter and Survival. Tuesday, July 2nd  – After lunch at noon, stay for a discussion on Prescription Drug Diversion: According to the drug diversion association, prescription drugs have become the No. 1 substance of abuse for 12-to 17-year-olds. Many of the drugs are obtained from the medicine cabinets of parents, grandparents and friends without their knowledge. Dr. William Roberts, MD will talk about this serious problem and what we can do to keep our kids (and our medications) safe. 

Tuesday, July 16th – Scrabbage & Cribble ~ Let the games begin! Or, perhaps you prefer Poker, Crazy 8s, Old Maid, Chutes and Ladders or Charades, but plan to stay after lunch and have some fun.

Saturday, July 27th - The Pre-Jig Jam, come get a preview of the music and the magic ~ this year held at The Meeting House on the Green in East Fairfield. Potluck dinner, 6-11:00.  

Sunday, July 28th, The 21st Annual JIG IN THE VALLEY, noon to dusk, rain or shine on the green in East Fairfield. Mark your calendars for this summer tradition to benefit the Fairfield Community Center. Music this year by: Nobby Reed, Carol Ann Jones, Fabian Rainville, The Oleo Romeos, and many more special guests, great food, kids activities, flea market and silent auction! Don't miss it!
