SPRING FORWARD!

Hard to imagine that spring is just around the corner today (it's snowing) but the robins are back, and the geese are flying north, and bluebirds have been spotted in East Fairfield!

We have lots of interesting things going on at the Center these days.

Food Shelf & Senior Meals continue to be lively, well-attended programs. We're in need of a few more helpers for the Tuesday afternoon Food Shelf volunteer rotation. If you can spare 2-3 hours once a month, please give us a call at 827-3130! Duties include restocking, distribution of food, and carrying boxes out to clients cars if necessary.

We're trying to put together something we're calling The Senior Clubhouse - a comfortable lounge area in the Center for seniors to gather for classes, art workshops, music, movies, cards, board games, etc. and are seeking funding to pull it together hopefully by early summer. Nance has been working on some grants, and also keeping eyes and ears open for good used furniture such as couches, arm chairs, side tables, good reading lamps, a wide-screen TV and a projector, as well as community volunteers who would like to come in and lead an activity with the seniors. Travel slide shows, a musical performance, a painting class, computer help...if you have a special talent that you'd like to share, we're scheduling Tuesday and Thursday afternoon activities starting in June. Please give us a call if you can help in any way!

April Vacation Camp, coming up April 22-26! Registration forms have gone out from school, space is limited so sign up early! For kids 5-12 in Franklin County, $20/day, 7:30-4:40 M-F.

Work on The Meeting House has begun! Brian and Dan are upgrading the old wiring to comply with state standards for a public venue, and as soon as it warms up a bit, we'll be fixing the front entrance path, cleaning out corners, and getting ready for an OPEN HOUSE, the date TBA - hopefully sometime in June. If you're interested in the project and would like to help out,  read more about it HERE, and join us at one of our clean up days - April 13, 27, or May 4. There's lots to do, and this is going to be a wonderful community-wide project.

And finally, plans for 8 weeks of Black Creek Adventure Camp are shaping up. Look for more information soon! The Center has been awarded a grant from the Agnes T. Lindsay Foundation for 20 scholarships to camp this year, so if your child would like to attend a week of camp but it's not in your budget this summer, please give us a call - 827-3130.
